Bio:

Having played in the same band for 11 years is today something you might consider to be a rare thing. Even more so is that the band members, according to themselves, have not yet even become adults. For Bye Bye Bicycle though this is something natural.

The journey began in a small community on the Swedish West Coast in 2001. Samuel and André decided to form a band. Why? Because it would lead to increased popularity in junior high ofcourse… didn’t work…

A little while later Nils, Viktor & Jakob joined the band.

For almost a decade the band spent most of their free time in the rehearsal room. This came natural because at the time nobody knew how to play their instruments properly.

It was first 2009 the debut album ”Compass” came out (released on their own label Bonjour Recordings). The album had a strong conceptual theme and the band described it as ”Around the world in 10 songs”.
Compass was released in 15 countries and took the band on serveral tours around Europe. With over 100 gigs the touring bit was over for this album cycle and it was time to start the writing process for the second album.
Songs were written and demos recorded and a shape of an album slowly emerged. They thought…
The creative anxiety came creeping up on the band and all the songs were scrapped. The sound and ideals were thrown a side and all of a sudden they did not know what leg to stand on.

The band wanted to steer away from the conceptual thinking that in the past had been such a strong influence on their music. They wanted to show who they really were. No more made up gestures or clever ideas to hide behind.  Simply ”Back to nature”.

In the middle of all this emotional chaos the band signed a new record deal with Selective Notes.
From this new songs were written and recorded and ”Nature” was born. An album dealing with childhood memories and dreams about the future. The fear of being personal and the fear of losing someone you love.

Today, 2012 the band is stronger than ever and have finally realized that their greatest strenght is their history and the fact that they make music as best friends.
